June 17 (UPI) -- Apple TV+ is giving a glimpse of the new series The Shrink Next Door.

The streaming service shared a teaser trailer for the dark comedy Thursday featuring Will Ferrell as Martin "Marty" Markowitz, a man who starts seeing Dr. Isaac "Ike" Herschkopf (Paul Rudd), a manipulative therapist.

The preview shows Marty (Ferrell) confide in Ike (Rudd), who starts seeing Marty outside of their sessions. Marty's sister, Phyllis, (Kathryn Hahn) raises concerns about Ike worming himself into Marty's life.

The Shrink Next Door is based on the Joe Nocera podcast of the same name. The podcast explored the story of the real-life Herschkopf, who was accused of exploiting his patients for personal gain.

Ferrell said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published Thursday that Marty's story is relatable.

"It's so relatable in a way -- obviously it has special meaning for anyone who has done any amount of therapy," he said. "When we talked to Marty about this, it was a perfect storm of someone in a vulnerable place who had never really sought this type of counsel before and decided to give it a shot, and get some really effective temporary relief right out of the gate and support in a way that he'd never felt and thought, 'Let's keep going. I'm going to double down on this whole thing.' And then it was the point of no return."

The Shrink Next Door is directed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick) and will premiere Nov. 12 on Apple TV+.

Ferrell and Rudd previously collaborated on the Anchorman movies.
