June 16 (UPI) -- Showtime released a teaser for their new series American Rust on Wednesday. The show premieres Sept. 12 on Showtime at 10 p.m. EDT.

Jeff Daniels stars as Police Chief Del Harris investigating a murder in his Pennsylvania Rust Belt town. In the trailer, Harris complains, "I'm ticked off or kind of jumpy lately."

Showtime is currently filming American Rust in Pittsburgh, Pa. The series is based on Philipp Meyer's first novel.

Showtime initially announced the series under the title Rust. American Rust is the full title of Meyers' book.

Daniels previously played James Comey in Showtime's miniseries The Comey Rule. He re-teams with his Looming Tower creator Dan Futterman, who adapted and show runs Rust. Tierney starred on the Showtime drama The Affair.

American Rust also stars Bill Camp, David Alvarez, Alex Neustaedter, Julia Mayorga, Mark Pellegrino and Rob Yang. Futterman, Daniels, Michael De Luca, Adam Rapp, Paul Martino, Katie O'Connell Marsh and Elisa Ellis all executive produce.
