June 15 (UPI) -- Lupin star Omar Sy discussed how watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians helped him learn English while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The actor, on Tuesday, said he grew up watching American television shows in France such as The Six Million Dollar Man and Happy Days.

Sy, after moving to the U.S., used other shows to help him with English.

"I tried to learn English and I started watching TV and I watched CNN. They were talking so fast I said, 'Okay I will never learn this language," Sy said.

"I tried another channel, it was Bravo. I started with the Kardashians. It was easier to understand," Sy continued, before Kimmel joked, "You don't have to explain why. We know."

Sy stars in Netflix's Lupin Part 2, which recently premiered on the streaming service. The 43-year-old portrays professional thief Assane Diop, who is inspired by literary character Arsène Lupin.

"We gave the book a place in our show. It is a character itself," Sy said about the Arsène Lupin books by Maurice Leblanc.
