'Girls5eva' renewed for a second season at Peacock

June 14 (UPI) -- Peacock has renewed comedy music series Girls5eva for a second season.

The official Twitter account for Peacock made the announcement on Monday alongside a countdown video.

Sara Bareilles, Busy Philipps, Paula Pell and Renée Elise Goldsberry star in Girls5eva, which follows a one-hit wonder pop group from the '90s making a comeback.

Co-stars include Ashley Park, Jonathan Hadary, Daniel Breaker and Erika Henningsen.

Meredith Scardino (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) created the series. Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and Jeff Richmond serve as executive producers.

Girls5eva premiered on Peacock in May. The first season consists of eight episodes.
