June 9 (UPI) -- Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor says she cried upon her return to the show's set.
The 26-year-old actress discussed filming Season 2 of the Netflix series during Tuesday's episode of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
Dynevor plays Daphne Bridgerton on Bridgerton, which started production on Season 2 this week.
"I've had three days on set. It's so nice to be back. It's such a nice feeling. Oh, it's the best," the star said.
"I cried like seven times when I came back, 'cause so much had happened, you know, since the first season. Obviously, COVID and the show coming out and just seeing everyone again," she added.
Bridgerton is based on the Julia Quinn book series. Season 1 centered on the romance between Daphne (Dynevor) and Simon Bassett, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), while Season 2 will follow Anthony Bridgerton's (Jonathan Bailey) search for a wife.
Netflix announced in April that Page won't return as Simon in Season 2. On The Tonight Show, Dynevor confirmed that it was always the plan for Page to only appear in one season.
"The special thing about Bridgerton that I think not a lot of shows really do is that every seasons centers around a different love story. So, Season 2 is centered around Anthony, my older brother, and his sort of coming out into the season and finding a match, hopefully," the actress said.
"So, every story centers around a different relationship. So I'm just really excited to watch the show as an audience and see what it has in store for him," she added.
Dynevor looked back on her first season with Page, saying they first noticed their chemistry during dance rehearsals.
"I think you never know, but we both had dance rehearsals together and we were both kind of nervous about the dancing part," she said. "And I remember we had a few rehearsals, and one of them got recorded so we got to watch it back. And we were like, 'Oh, eye contact really does a lot of the work.'"
Bridgerton is created by Chris Van Dusen and co-stars Adjoa Andoh, Golda Rosheuvel, Ruth Gemmell, Florence Hunt, Claudia Jessie, Luke Newton, Luke Thompson, Will Tilston. Netflix is developing a spinoff series about Queen Charlotte (Rosheuvel).
