June 1 (UPI) -- Showtime announced the Season 2 premiere date for The L Word: Generation Q Tuesday. Season 2's season premiere will be available streaming and on demand Aug. 6, and premiere on Showtime Aug. 8 at 10 p.m. EDT.

The teaser promises a new girlfriend for Bette (Jennifer Beals) and secrets for Sophie (Rosanny Zayas). The drama chronicles the careers and relationships of gay women, trans and nonbinary people in Los Angeles.

The groundbreaking LGBTQ drama returned for a new generation in 2019. Original cast members Beals, Katherine Moennig and Leisha Hailey joined new cast members Zayas, Arienne Mandi, Leo Sheng, Jacqueline Toboni, Sepideh Moafi and Jordan Hull.

Marja-Lewis Ryan developed Generation Q. The L Word creator Ilene Chaiken is still an executive producer.

Season 2 lists Beals, Moennig and Hailey as guest stars. Additional guest stars include Rosie O'Donnell, Donald Faison, Griffin Dunne and Vanessa Williams for multiple episodes each.

Episodes 1 through 5 will air Sunday nights, then switch to Mondays on Sept. 12. The Season 2 finale will air Oct. 11.
