The high flyer and Scottish Warrior got into a war of words to begin Raw on Monday after they both interrupted Lashley and his manager MVP, who joined by a group of women.
McIntyre demanded a one-on-one rematch with Lashley for the WWE Championship, which The All Mighty denied due to having previously defeated McIntyre at WrestleMania 37 and WrestleMania Backlash.
Kingston then entered the pictured and claimed he deserved a title shot after he defeated Lashley last week, despite receiving help from McIntyre. Kingston and his New Day partner Xavier Woods told McIntyre to step aside as he is unfairly given rematch after rematch for Raw's top prize.
WWE official Adam Pearce came out and announced that Kingston and McIntyre would settle the argument in the ring with the winner facing Lashley for the title at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event on June 20.
Kingston and McIntyre had a highly-competitive match between two former WWE Champions. The bout was a battle between speed and strength.
McIntyre rocked Kingston outside the ring with a Reverse Alabama Slam that sent Kingston into the ring apron. McIntyre was able to manhandle Kingston throughout the match, however, the high flyer would not stay down.
The Scottish Warrior also landed a vicious Michinoku Driver. Kingston was later able to jump from the top rope and crash land onto McIntyre, who was staring down Lashley outside the ring. The move pushed McIntyre into Lashley, sending the WWE Champion to the floor.
Lashley and MVP took issue with what happened and entered the ring to attack both McIntyre and Kingston, ending the match in a no contest. Woods joined the fight and Kingston landed his Trouble in Paradise on Lashley, who was then sent out of the ring by McIntyre's Claymore.
Pearce then later announced that Kingston and McIntyre would have a rematch next week and warned Lashley and MVP that if they interfered, they would be suspended for 90 days without pay.
Women's Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina defended their titles against former champions Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax in the main event.
Baszler demanded that Jax's friend Reginald stay behind, blaming him for their previous lost against Natalya and Tamina. Reginald was blinded by flames during the original bout, which were seemingly created by Alexa Bliss.
Jax and Baszler were in control after Jax sent Tamina over the barricade, leaving Natalya alone. Reginald then entered the ringside area and tried to help Baszler by distracting the referee after Natalya locked in the Sharpshooter.
The distraction backfired as Baszler was able to quickly reverse the Sharpshooter into a pin, but the referee was late in counting to three due to Reginald. Baszler then yelled for Reginald to leave.
As Reginald walked up the entrance ramp, he was blinded once again by flames. Natalya took advantage of the situation and suddenly pinned Baszler to remain Tag Team Champions with Tamina. Baszler then grabbed Reginald and stated she will face him in match next week.
Ripley accepted the challenge, but was unable to take down Cross in two minutes, giving Cross the victory. Flair then mocked Ripley and took on her longtime rival Asuka in a rematch from last week. The Queen won the bout after reversing the Asuka Lock into a roll-up pin.
Flair will get to challenge Ripley for the Raw Women's Championship at Hell in a Cell.
Other moments from Raw included Cedric Alexander defeating his former tag team partner Shelton Benjamin; Riddle defeating Xavier Woods after taking after his tag team partner Randy Orton by delivering an RKO; Jaxson Ryker defeating Raw Tag Team Champion AJ Styles after interference from Elias; and United States Champion Sheamus defeating Humberto Carrillo.
