May 19 (UPI) -- Batman and Superman animated shows are coming to HBO Max and Cartoon Network
Batman: Caped Crusader, from executive producers Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams (Star Wars) and Matt Reeves, will reimagine the Batman mythology. HBO Max and Cartoon Network gave the project a straight to series order.
The show represents Timm's return to animated episodic television after the classic Batman: The Animated Series, which began in 1992.
Reeves is the director behind upcoming live-action film, The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson in the title role, which hits theaters on March 4, 2022.
"We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City. The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman's noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world," Timm, Abrams and Reeves said in a joint statement.
Batman: Caped Crusader is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Bad Robot Productions and 6th & Idaho.
My Adventures with Superman has been given a two-season order by HBO Max and Cartoon Network.
The kids and family animated series will follow the romantic adventures of Superman and reporter Lois Lane. Photographer Jimmy Olsen will also appear in the coming-of-age story that explores how Superman builds his secret identity and becomes a hero as Lois Lane grows into a star investigative journalist.
Jack Quaid (The Boys) will voice Clark Kent/Superman, with Alice Lee (Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist) voicing Lois Lane.
Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) serves as executive producer with Jake Wyatt (Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus) and Brendan Clogher (Voltron: Legendary Defender) as co-executive producers and Josie Campbell (She-Ra and the Princess of Power) as co-producer.
My Adventures with Superman is produced by Warner Bros. Animation.
