Barack Obama gives life advice on 'Late Late Show'

May 18 (UPI) -- Former President Barack Obama gave life advice during his appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Corden, on Monday, invited Late Late Show staffers to ask Obama questions with the 44th President of the United States offering life and dating advice.

Late Late Show staffer Ian asked Obama about where he should take his girlfriend on their first date now that things are opening up following the COVID-19 pandemic.

"How is this a problem? You have gone to dinner with people before right? You know how restaurants work right? They feed you. Order a little wine, say nice things to her, compliment her on her dress. Ian, is this really the biggest problem you have?" Obama joked.

"I'm the former President of the United States man, you should have come up with something better," Obama continued, as Corden and Ian applauded.

Obama later gave a more serious answer when asked about raising a daughter by Late Late Show drummer Guillermo.

"Not only love them unconditionally, but treat their moms great because your daughters are watching how their mom is being treated. If they see that you love and respect and support their mom, then when they get older that is what they are going to expect for themselves," Obama said.

Late Late Show musician Reggie Watts was given his own segment to ask Obama about aliens. Obama said there are records and footage of unidentified objects in the sky.

"When I came into office, I asked. I was like, 'All right, is there a lab somewhere where we're keeping the alien specimens and spaceships?' They did a little bit of research and the answer was no," Obama said.

Corden, during his sit-down interview with Obama, asked whether he thought his daughters, 22-year-old Malia and 19-year-old Sasha, would ever go into public service.

"Them as teenagers and having secret service guys follow them when they were going out on dates, I think probably has shut down their interest in public service," Obama said.
