James Corden calls Carpool Karaoke with Kanye West 'astonishing'

By Wade Sheridan

Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Late Late Show host James Corden was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live where he gushed about the carpool karaoke segment he had with Kanye West onboard an airplane.

Corden said that he had tried to film Carpool Karaoke on multiple occasions with West but that the rapper would cancel plans at the last minute.

When the pair finally met for what became known as Airpool Karaoke, Corden was shocked at how everything came together and how he was able to experience West's Sunday Service choir sing inside the airplane.

"I have to say, of all the things we've done on the show and I consider so many things we've done to have been an absolute privilege, being on that plane surrounded by that choir, sitting with him and he was in a great place and in the best mood, I will never ever forget what that choir sounded like on that airplane," Corden said.

"It was an astonishing thing," he continued. "I really thought this is a once in a lifetime thing that I'll never ever forget. It was an incredible moment."

The segment was made days after West released his gospel album titled Jesus Is King. Corden joked with Kimmel that the experience almost made him turn to Jesus.

Corden also discussed his role in the film adaptation of Cats, which uses CGI technology to make the actors appear with fur in the film.

The comedian said that it was a surreal experience filming a scene with Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson, Idris Elba, Ian McKellen and Judi Dench where everyone was acting like a cat.

"You really think for a long time, are we being punked?" Corden joked.

Cats is set to arrive in theaters on Dec. 20.
