'Wonder Woman' director Patty Jenkins inks deal with Netflix

Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Wonder Woman and Monster filmmaker Patty Jenkins has signed a multi-year deal to produce new shows exclusively at Netflix.

Jenkins' TV credits include The Killing, Entourage and I Am the Night. Her next movie is Wonder Woman 1984, which is set for release in theaters in 2020.

Channing Dungey, the streaming service's vice president of original series, welcomed Jenkins to Netflix in a statement on Thursday.

"Her trailblazing work has pushed boundaries and she confidently tells stories that leave an unforgettable mark. We look forward to fostering her many ideas and helping them come to life," Dungey said.

"I'm so excited to embark on a great journey of making the new world of television with a company and group of people I admire," added Jenkins. "I look forward to digging in to some great work together soon."
