One of the photos shows Payton Hobart (Platt), an aspiring politician, sitting at a table with Paltrow's character, Georgina. Another shows Lange leaning over a kitchen counter as her character, Dusty.

"Get your first look at #ThePolitician -- a new series created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, & Ian Brennan and starring @BenSPLATT Jessica Lange @zoeydeutch and Gwyneth Paltrow!" Netflix captioned the post.

Netflix also released photos of Lucy Boynton, Theo Germaine, Julia Schlaepfer and Laura Dreyfuss.

"The series -- about an impossibly driven young man who dreams of being the president -- also stars Lucy Boynton, Theo Germaine, Julia Schlaepfer, and Laura Dreyfuss. #ThePolitician premieres Sept. 27," the caption reads.

Murphy said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published Wednesday that The Politician examines "wealthy people behaving badly." The show is envisioned as five seasons that follow Payton (Platt) as he runs in different elections, from student government to U.S. president.

"It's not a show on current U.S. politics," Platt said. "It's more about the phenomenon of what it takes to be a politician and how much of yourself you have to sacrifice to be a good one."
