Aug. 7 (UPI) -- The dramedy BV90210 debuted on Fox Wednesday night, reuniting most of the original cast members of the young-adult soap, Beverly Hills, 90210.
Former 90210 stars Jason Priestley, Gabrielle Carteris, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering all returned for the scripted show.
They play fictionalized versions of their real selves as they supposedly work on reviving their old series, which ran 1990-2000.
Spoilers ahead.
BV90210 opened with the 90210 theme music then showed several actors reprising their 90210 roles inside their popular soda shop hangout, The Peach Pit, which Brandon (Priestley) and Kelly (Garth) now own, and where David and Donna (Spelling and Green,) and Steve and Andrea (Ziering and Carteris) still eat.
The scene was revealed to be a dream Spelling was having while flying in coach class alongside Garth to a 30th anniversary celebration of 90210.
As they deplane, Garth reveals she is recovering from her third, failed marriage.
Green is also headed to the event -- which he calls a "Thunderdome of girl drama" -- but he is traveling in a private plane, courtesy of his music star wife.
Ziering is seen packing up his convertible with boxes of the fitness books he wrote and hopes to sell at the convention and Carteris rides a bus as she reflects on recently becoming a first-time grandmother, then fields a phone call in her capacity as the president of the Actors Guild of America.
Elsewhere, Priestley is being urged to go to the convention by his publicist/wife.
A flashback reveals he had earlier punched out an actor while he was directing him on a film set and needs a little good press.
The 90210 icons arrive simultaneously in the lobby of the hotel where the convention is.
"This is weird," Priestley admits.
"I can't believe that we are all here," Carteris says.
"I wish that was true," Priestley says as a nod to late 90210 lead Luke Perry, who died on March 4 following a stroke at the age of 52.
After hugging each other, the group heads to ballroom for a panel discussion, which Doherty crashes via video screen.
Her former co-stars then go to the pool bar where Spelling and Green get drunk.
Garth and Priestley, equally inebriated, go back to Priestley's room and have sex.
Hours later, the crew is on David's plane and intoxicated Spelling gives a speech about how much she loves her friends.
"We're not all going to be here forever, but we made something that will be," Spelling says.
Priestley raises a champagne glass and says, "To Luke," to which the other actors do the same.
When the plane lands, the group is arrested for having earlier stolen memorabilia from the show that was on display at the convention and live-streaming the crime online.
The incident sparks renewed interest in the actors and Spelling and Garth come up with the idea of rebooting 90210.
"Maybe going back is just what we all need to move forward," Spelling says.
The episode ended with the dedication, "To our friend, Luke Perry, 1966-2019."
