July 30 (UPI) -- Idris Elba said on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that he was teased by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham about starring in Cats on the set of Hobbs & Shaw.

"As soon as they found out I was working on Cats, this was their favorite thing to do as I walked on set. We're doing this big fight scene, I'm walking in looking all bravado and they'd say 'Hey Idris what you doing next?'" the actor said.

Elba will be seen as super-powered villain Brixton in Hobbs & Shaw, which arrives in theaters on Friday. The actor told Colbert that he finds Statham more daunting to perform action scenes with over Johnson.

"He's just like wire-y. The Rock's kind of like 'Give me a hug boy you don't want to fight,'" Elba said about his co-stars.

Elba is set to portray Macavity in Cats, based on the Broadway play of the same name. Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson and Francesca Hayward also star in the film which is set to arrive in theaters on Dec. 20.
