July 27 (UPI) -- Hulu has acquired the rights to the Georgia-set sitcom Designing Women and plans to start streaming the reruns on Aug. 26 -- Women's Equality Day.
Starring Dixie Carter, Delta Burke, Annie Potts, Jean Smart and Meshach Taylor, the show about a group of female interior decorators initially ran for seven seasons and 163 episodes on CBS 1986-1993.
"The feminist, feisty, females discuss everything going on in their lives, from sex and love to politics and religion, all in the confines of their Victorian Georgian office," a press release said. "Ex-con handyman and token male of the series, Anthony Bouvier, offers his help not only at the firm, but also offers his opinions on all of the ladies personal matters."
A revival of the show is in development at ABC.
No casting has been disclosed yet. Carter and Taylor died after the original series ended.
