May 14 (UPI) -- Hannah Gadsby will release her new comedy special, Douglas, on Netflix in 2020.

The 41-year-old Australian comedian announced the news Monday at a Netflix FYSEE event in Los Angeles.

"I'm so excited to announce today that Douglas will be released on Netflix in 2020," Gadsby said, according to a press release. "I'm really enjoying touring with the live performance, but there will be places in the world that I won't be able to visit, so it's wonderful that Netflix will bring the show to every corner of the globe."

Douglas is Gadsby's followup to her comedy special Nanette, which debuted to great success on Netflix in June. The new special is named after Gadsby's beloved dog.

Gadsby kicked off her U.S. tour of Douglas in April. The show is inspired by Gadsby's breakout success from Nanette.

"I think you can't expect. That's a clue, It talks about expectations and how labels can set them up to fail," Gadsby previously told Variety.

Gadsby shared plans in April for an Off-Broadway run of Douglas over the summer. She will perform the show July 23-Aug. 17 at the Daryl Roth Theater in New York.
