Tyler Baltierra speaks out after 'separation' from Catelynn Lowell

Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Tyler Baltierra is setting the record straight on his "separation" from wife Catelynn Lowell.

The 26-year-old television personality took to Twitter Tuesday following news he and Lowell spent 30 days apart amid her pregnancy.

Monday's episode of Teen Mom OG showed Lowell struggle with Baltierra's decision to spend time away from their family amid their marriage troubles.

"The 30 days wasn't even a total isolated 'separation,'" Baltierra told fans. "I was 8 min down the road & we had dinner dates, family movie nights, went on a mini vacation & it was EXACTLY what we needed for US!"

"People can hate on me all day but my self assurance is not reliant on society's acceptance," he added.

Baltierra said he initially stayed in the couple's new house before switching with Lowell and their 3-year-old daughter, Novalee.

"I only spent the first week of the 'separation' in the new house on an air mattress in the middle of construction to get it completely ready for Cate & Nova," he explained. "Then I went to the old house for the rest of the time. I wasn't going to let my girls live in chaos!"

Baltierra agreed with a fan who said he doesn't deserve Lowell.

"You're absolutely right...I don't deserve Cate & trust me, karma has bitten me many times before, so I'm well equipped when she comes knocking again," he responded.

Baltierra and Lowell are expecting another baby girl. The couple have weathered several ups and downs in the past year, including Lowell's treatment for mental health issues.
