WWE Raw: Seth Rollins, Baron Corbin have brutal TLC match

By Wade Sheridan

Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Seth Rollins battled general manager elect Baron Corbin on Raw in a violent Tables, Ladders and Chairs match before the TLC pay-per-view event on Sunday.

Rollins issued the challenge to Corbin to kick off Raw after The Kingslayer expressed to the general manager elect just how bad WWE's red brand has gone downhill with him in charge.

Rollins criticized Corbin's decision to help Brock Lesnar become the Universal Champion once again and stated that the locker room was unhappy with his leadership.

Corbin, who was riled up by Rollins' comments, agreed to the match but used his power to make it for Rollins' Intercontinental Championship.

The main event featured both men trying their best to torture each other using multiple chairs and tables. Corbin attempted to sway the match in his favor by having Heath Slater referee the bout. Slater was made a referee last week by Corbin after he had the WWE star compete for his job against his Tag Team partner Rhyno.

Slater, who appears to be doing everything Corbin says in order to keep his job, came to the aid of Corbin after Rollins had delivered a frog splash to The Lone Wolf through a table. Slater, as Rollins climbed the ladder to retrieve his Intercontinental title, tipped the ladder to dispose of the champion.

Slater then helped Corbin climb the ladder himself, however, Rollins was able to recover and take out his boss by Powerbombing him into a table that was situated in the corner. Rollins then disposed of Slater and delivered a Curb Stomp to Corbin before he climbed the ladder to retrieve his championship and win the match.

Dean Ambrose would appear by the entrance way to stare down Rollins as he rested at the top of the ladder. Rollins and Ambrose will compete for the Intercontinental Championship on Sunday at TLC. Corbin is also set to compete at TLC against Braun Strowman in a match that he needs to win in order to become the permanent general manager of Raw. Corbin expects Strowman will not show up, however, due to the Monster Among Men having an injured right elbow.

Also on Raw, Bobby Roode and Chad Gable became the new Raw Tag Team Champions after they defeated AOP and their manager Drake Maverick in a 2-on-3 Handicap Match.

AOP was dominate in the contest and were poised to win after laying out both Roode and Gable. Maverick then entered the match in order to pin Roode himself after he mocked The Glorious One.

Roode was able to reverse Maverick's pin into his own pin, quickly rolling up the manager for a surprise three count. Roode and Gable quickly left with their new titles in hand as AOP and Maverick looked on in shock.

Other moments from Raw included Drew McIntyre defeating Dolph Ziggler; Bayley defeating Alicia Fox; Lio Rush defeating Elias with help from Bobby Lashley and referee Slater; Ember Moon defeating Tamina after Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey had a brief encounter with Tamina and her TLC opponent Nia Jax; and Ruby Riott further insulting Natalya's late father Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart.

Riott introduced a table that featured an image of Neidhart on it. The Riott Squad leader said she would drive Natalya through the table at TLC.
