WWE Smackdown: Daniel Bryan attacks, AJ Styles faces The Miz

By Wade Sheridan

Dec. 5 (UPI) -- WWE Champion Daniel Bryan -- who now refers to himself as the new Daniel Bryan -- brutally assaulted AJ Styles on Smackdown following The Phenomenal One's match against The Miz.

Styles and The Miz were pitted against each other Tuesday after Bryan had a sit-down interview with the A-lister on Miz TV.

The Miz -- who has famously feuded with Bryan for years -- attempted to get the champion to admit to finally seeing the value in cheating to win. Bryan instead proceeded to attack the live audience for their many sins against the environment.

Styles then arrived onto the scene and marched into the ring looking for a fight. Bryan quickly pushed The Miz into Styles, causing The Miz to later attack Styles with a Skull-Crushing Finale after Styles had finally reached Bryan.

Styles was able to defeat The Miz in the main event after applying his Calf Crusher submission hold despite Bryan attempting to interfere in the bout. Bryan then quickly went after Styles again and started attacking his new rivals left leg.

Bryan tortured Styles with his submission hold the Heel Hook and by kicking him multiple times in the face. Bryan will be defending his WWE Championship against Styles at TLC on Dec. 16.

Also on Tuesday, Smackdown Women's Champion Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Asuka signed their contracts to face each other at TLC in the first-ever Women's Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match.

The trio of competitors took part in a war of words with each other with Lynch claiming that Flair did not deserve another shot at her title and Flair stating that she already defeated Asuka at WrestleMania.

Lynch was the first to sign the contract and quickly left the ring. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville then presented themselves after Flair and Asuka added their names to the dotted line, leading to a Tag Team Match where Flair and Asuka would need to work together.

The Queen and The Empress of Tomorrow were unable to co-exist, however, with Flair accidentally kicking Asuka off of the ring apron. Asuka returned the favor by striking Flair with a sliding kick, allowing Rose and Deville to pick up the victory.
