'Console Wars' series from Seth Rogen to tackle Sega, Nintendo rivalry

Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Seth Rogen and his partner Evan Goldberg are executive producing a limited drama series based on Blake J. Harris' novel Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation.

The non-fiction book, released in 2014, chronicles the rise of Sega and how they took on video game industry leader Nintendo in the 1990s.

Filmmaker Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) is directing for Legendary Television. Mike Rosolio is writing the pilot.

No network is currently attached. James Weaver, Scott Rudin, Eli Bush, Julian Rosenberg, Jonah Tulis, Vogt-Roberts, Rosolio and Harris are also executive producing.

Rogen and Goldberg, who through their Point Grey Pictures studio have produced AMC's Preacher and Hulu's Future Man, were originally attached to write and direct a Console Wars movie. The limited series has taken the place of the film.
