'Office' stars reunite for Steve Carell's 'SNL' monologue

Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Steve Carell's former co-stars from The Office crashed his Saturday Night Live monologue this weekend and asked him to revive their classic sitcom.

After Carell welcomed the crowd, a woman from the audience asked if he would consider re-booting the show, which ran 2005-13.

"No, actually, I don't think so. It was a great experience, I love all of those people. But I just don't think it's the best idea. Maybe we should just leave it alone," he said.

SNL player Kenan Thompson and Office alums Ellie Kemper, Jenna Fischer and Ed Helms then stood up and told Carell that fans want to see the show return and the stars want the money they'd earn from the jobs.

"I just don't think you understand how much money we are talking about. You wouldn't have to do those sad movies anymore," Helms said, referring to the dramas Carell has been making such as Beautiful Boy and Foxcatcher.

"Let's just do the damn thing!" Fischer said.

Carell's wife Nancy, son and daughter -- who were sitting in the crowd -- urged Carell to go back to the show, insisting they no longer need him at home.

"We're good," Nancy cheerfully said, before she and the kids left the theater. "See you later."

Calling Kemper, Fischer and Helms on stage, Carell declared, "I am proud to announce, officially, that we have a great show tonight!"

The theme song to The Office then played as the show went to commercial break.

During Carell's guest hosting stint, the actor played Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, as well as a clueless dad whose kids have to tell him that his wife left him and an astronaut answering children's questions from space as an experiment goes awry, freezing to death the animals onboard.
