Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Diego Luna is to reprise his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character Cassian Andor in a live-action series to stream on the newly named Disney+ service.

The show will take place before the events of the 2016 film, the Walt Disney Co. said Thursday. Its debut date has not yet been determined.

"Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me," Luna said in a statement. "I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply."

This project is separate from The Mandalorian, the Star Wars live-action series that is now in production. Jon Favreau wrote and executive produced the show, which is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.

The company also confirmed Thursday previous media reports that stated it is working on a live-action dramedy for the streaming service focused on Loki, the god of mischief Tom Hiddleston played in the Thor and Marvel's The Avengers movies.
