June 14 (UPI) -- Maria Bamford, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Eddie Pepitone, Scott Adsit and Matt Braunger are confirmed as guest stars for Season 3 of IFC's horror-comedy Stan Against Evil.

The third season is filming now in Atlanta and the first of its eight new episodes is to debut Oct. 31, Halloween night.

Created by comedian Dana Gould, the show stars John C. McGinley as grouchy, retired New Hampshire police sheriff Stan Miller and Janet Varney as Evie Barrett, his perky replacement. Together, they team up to rid their town Willard's Mill of the various demons and monsters that wreak havoc there.

Deborah Baker Jr. and Nate Mooney return as Stan's daughter Denise and Deputy Leon Drinkwater respectively.

David Koechner will also return in the guest starring role as Kenny, Evie's ex-husband.

"Season 3 picks up immediately after the events of the Season 2 finale, with Stan and Evie back in Willard's Mill dealing with the consequences of Stan traveling through time to save his dead wife Claire," a news release said. "In doing so, he inadvertently opened a portal between the Land of the Living and the Land of the Dead... allowing evil forces to truly take over the town and even some of its inhabitants. Although always the skeptic at first, Stan must work with Evie to once more save the town -- even if it means making a literal deal with the devil."
