WWE Raw: Rousey, Jax have stare down, Reigns and Rollins team up

By Wade Sheridan

May 22 (UPI) -- Ronda Rousey and Raw Women's Champion Nia Jax made their upcoming title match official Monday on Raw during a heated contract signing.

The contract signing was hosted by a returning Stephanie McMahon who attempted to get under each competitors skin by pointing out their weaknesses and shortcomings. The strategy worked on Jax who suddenly became less friendly and declared that she would make a name for herself by defeating Rousey.

Rousey responded to the outburst by maintaining her cool and offering up a handshake. The Baddest Woman on the Planet then said to Jax that she would take her title and her arm as the pair stared each other down.

Jax defends her Raw Women's Championship against Rousey on June 17 at Money in the Bank.

Also on Raw, a mini Shield reunion took place with Roman Reigns and Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins teaming up to take on Kevin Owens and Jinder Mahal. The match took place after a singles bout between Owens and Reigns ended with Mahal coming out to beat down The Big Dog before Rollins came to the rescue.

Owens and Mahal worked well together, able to isolate Reigns from Rollins until The Architect was finally able to be tagged in. Rollins then turned things around and unleashed an offensive flurry of attacks that included two Suicide Dives onto his opponents.

The match ended when Rollins delivered a Curb Stomp to Owens for the three count. As Rollins and Reigns walked up the ramp, Mahal quickly returned with a steel chair and proceeded to dismantle the former Shield brothers.

Mahal, after dispatching of Rollins, spent extra time assaulting Reigns with the steel chair. It was then announced that Mahal and Reigns would be settling their differences in a match at Money in the Bank.

In the main event, Braun Strowman took on Finn Balor in a match made by McMahon who wanted to see the Men's Money in the Bank Match qualifiers face off against each other after being tag team partners last week.

Balor, who put up a valiant effort against the Monster Among Men, was unable to tame Strowman who won the match after delivering two Running Powerslams after he stopped Balor's Coup de Grace.
