Tina Fey reflects on her career in 'SNL' season finale promo

May 17 (UPI) -- Tina Fey chronicles her career in a new promotion for the comedian's return to Saturday Night Live as a guest host.

The clip, released Thursday, features Fey narrating an animated short about how she left Chicago for New York City in 1997 to become a writer and then later a head writer for SNL.

"I had successfully mastered the art of sleeping with my eyes open. Then, I got to be a cast member!" she continued, also discussing how she entered the film industry and wrote a Broadway version of Mean Girls.

"Now I'm back at 30 Rock, and I couldn't be more excited," she said of returning to the set of SNL on May 19 for the season finale. Musical guest Nicki Minaj will join Fey.
