WWE Raw: Reigns addresses loss to Lesnar, Rollins defends title

By Wade Sheridan

May 1 (UPI) -- Roman Reigns kicked off Raw on Monday by declaring that he should be Universal Champion following his controversial match with Brock Lesnar at the Greatest Royal Rumble event.

Reigns faced off against Lesnar Friday in Saudi Arabia, in a Steel Cage Match that ended when The Big Dog delivered a Spear that sent both competitors through the steel cage wall and onto the floor. Reigns' feet touched the floor first, however, the referees declared Lesnar the winner at the time due to his body hitting the floor first.

"You're looking at the real, Universal Champion," Reigns said on Raw. "I beat Brock Lesnar in that steel cage and that is why I will never loose faith in myself."

Reigns was then interrupted by Samoa Joe of Smackdown Live whom he will face Sunday at Backlash. Joe was just the tip of the iceberg as Reigns was then met in the ring by Jinder Mahal, Sami Zayn and then Kevin Owens who were all looking to compete against Reigns on Raw.

The trio then decided to work together and gang up on Reigns after he landed a surprise punch on Owens. Reigns would receive help from Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman who cleared the ring of Owens, Zayn and Mahal. A Six-Man Tag Team Match between the two teams was then set for later that night.

The star-studded bout featured Owens, Zayn and Mahal gaining control of the match and keeping Reigns down until he was able to tag in Strowman. The Monster Among Men cleaned house and decimated his opponents until Mahal was able to swiftly dodge the charging giant.

The match ended when Strowman was able to stop Owens' Cannonball and deliver a Running Powerslam for the the three count.

Also on Raw, Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins defended his title against Finn Balor in the main event.

A highly-competitive bout, Rollins and Balor pushed each other to the limit as each man was able to dodge the other's finishing maneuver. Balor appeared to be gaining momentum and was able to dodge multiple Curb Stomp attempts from Rollings until The Architect finally landed one for the victory.

Other moments from Raw included Elias defeating Bobby Roode via match stoppage; The Authors of Pain defeating Jean-Paul and Francois; Ruby Riott defeating Sasha Banks; No Way Jose defeating Baron Corbin due to a distraction by Titus O'Neil; and Natalya defeating Mickie James.

Natalya was accompanied to the ring by Ronda Rousey who continues to support her friend. Rousey, after seeing James' friend Alexa Bliss get involved in the match, chased down Bliss around the ring. Following Natalya's victory, both women celebrated in the ring together along with Raw Women's Champion Nia Jax.
