Feb. 28 (UPI) -- John Cena used his free agent status and returned to WWE's blue brand Tuesday on Smackdown Live where he looked for a way toward the WWE Championship and WrestleMania.
Cena kicked off the show explaining his actions and that he wants to earn his way to WWE's biggest event of the year. Smackdown leaders Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan arrived to greet the 16-time world champion and explained that he could be added to the Fatal 5-Way title match at Fastlane on March 11 if he can beat WWE Champion AJ Styles.
Cena, during the main event, did everything in his power to defeat The Phenomenal One including sending Styles through the announcer's table with an Attitude Adjustment.
The highly-competitive match came to an end after Cena was able to impressively reverse Styles' Calf Crusher submission move into another Attitude Adjustment for the three count. Styles will now be defending his WWE Championship at Fastlane against Cena, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler.
Owens, Zayn and Corbin came to the ring following the match and began to beatdown Cena and Styles before help came in the form of Ziggler who assisted in fighting back the three men. Ziggler then took out Styles which led him to receiving an Attitude Adjustment from Cena as Smackdown Live went off the air.
Also on Smackdown Live, The New Day discussed their storied rivalry with The Usos before the teams meet once again for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships at Fastlane.
The New Day were then joined by The Usos who proceeded to explain how nothing will keep them away from WrestleMania this year even though they missed the event multiple times in a row.
As tensions began to rise, The Bludgeon Brothers, consisting of Harper and Rowan, arrived on the scene and caused the verbal debate to end as both The New Day and The Usos exited the ring.
Other moments from Smackdown Live included Corbin defeating Sami Zayn; Ruby Riott defeating Naomi; and Shinsuke Nakamura defeating Aiden English.
