The Hollywood Reporter also said the 51-year-old actress is close to a deal to replace 28-year-old Vanessa Kirby, who played the rebellious royal in the period drama's first two seasons opposite 33-year-old Claire Foy's Queen Elizabeth II.

Olivia Colman, 43, is to portray the monarch in Season 3.
