Keith Urban celebrates Nicole Kidman's Golden Globes nod: 'Incredibly proud'

The actress previously won Golden Globe awards for the films "To Die For," "Moulin Rouge!" and "The Hours."

Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Keith Urban is "incredibly proud" of wife Nicole Kidman's Golden Globe Awards nod.

The 50-year-old country star congratulated Kidman in a tweet Monday after she was nominated for Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Film for Big Little Lies. The actress also starred in Top of the Lake: China Girl, which will compete with Big Little Lies for Best Miniseries or TV Film.

"Hey baby- CONGRATULATIONS on all the GLOBES love this morn!!!!!! Incredibly proud of you, the work, and all the BLL and TOTL team. THE STARS ALIGNED!!! xxxxxx - KU #GoldenGlobes," Urban wrote.

Kidman's co-star Reese Witherspoon was also nominated for Best Actress in a Limited Series. Fellow star Alexander Skarsgard is up for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, while Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley are both nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series.

Kidman, who played Celeste Wright in Big Little Lies, said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight that she was "grateful" for the show's multiple nominations.

"We are all aware of how rare it is for a show and its cast to be honored in such a huge way, and we are all incredibly grateful," the actress said. "Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press [Association] for giving the show so much love."

"The character Celeste is precious to me and the recognition is deeply appreciated," she added.

Big Little Lies is based on the Liane Moriarty novel of the same name, and aired on HBO in the spring. The network confirmed Friday that Kidman and Witherspoon will return to star in and produce a second season.
