Harley Quinn animated series coming to DC Comics streaming service

Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Warner Bros. has ordered a Harley Quinn animated series that will debut on the company's upcoming DC Comics-branded streaming service.

Warner Bros. has ordered 26 half-hour episodes of the series that comes from Powerless executive producers Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey, Deadline reported.

Actress Margot Robbie, who brought Harley Quinn to life on the big screen in 2016's Suicide Squad, will be approached about voicing the Batman villain, noted The Hollywood Reporter.

The series will follow Harley Quinn along with others heroes and villains from the DC universe, including Poison Ivy, as she strikes out on her own in Gotham City after breaking up with The Joker.

The show is the third announced for the DC streaming service which will arrive sometime in 2018 and feature Season 3 of animated series Young Justice along with a live-action drama based on the Teen Titans titled Titans.

Robbie is set to portray Harley Quinn again in a sequel to Suicide Squad along with another film that is in development that will focus on the relationship between Harley Quinn and The Joker, played by Jared Leto.
