Wendy Williams says fainting on-air was 'really scary'

Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Wendy Williams says fainting on-air was a "really scary" experience.

The 53-year-old television personality updated fans on Wednesday's episode of the Wendy Williams Show after passing out on live television Tuesday. Williams was celebrating Halloween on her series when she fainted.

"A lot of people thought that was a joke -- me fainting on my set -- no, that was not a joke," Williams asserted. "I don't do stunts and jokes for you like that. I don't need that."

"We were 48 minutes into our show and I was being briefed by one my producers," she recalled. "I felt it as she was talking to me. All I heard was, 'Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.' All I'm thinking is, 'Wendy? Oh my gosh.'"

"The crew brought out the clear, plexiglass podium you saw," the star said. "I'm like, 'Alright, Wendy, well at least you're wearing flats and you're holding onto this and there's only 12 more minutes of the show. You can do it, girl.'"

Williams, who was dressed as the Statue of Liberty at the time of the incident, said she felt "hot," "dizzy" and "weird" before she collapsed. She teared up as she recounted her fall to the ground.

"It was scary," the star confessed. "It was really scary. All I could think of in the middle of the scare was, 'Don't pull the podium over on you because that will make for worse.'"

Williams returned to finish her show Tuesday despite the scare. She explained at the time that she had "overheated" in her costume.
