Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Bruce Campbell has confirmed the hard-drinking, self-absorbed demon hunter he plays will learn he is the father of a teen-age girl named Brandy in Season 3 of Starz's horror-comedy Ash vs. Evil Dead.
"Ash is going to become a good father because once he does accept her as his daughter, then I think he realizes -- whether it's because of guilt, whatever -- that he must protect her at all costs," the 59-year-old actor told UPI recently at New York Comic Con. "This year, the evil entity is sort of like the Mafia: if they can't get to Ash, they will get to his family, so they are going after Brandy. She is a target from the second she shows up on the show, which puts her in a constant threat, which puts Ash into a tizzy, essentially. Ash is pushed to the limit this season. Actually over the limit. Ash loses it at one point."
Campbell also revealed Brandy's mother is not a character who has been mentioned before in the Evil Dead movie/TV franchise, which has spanned four decades.

"She's brand new and short lived," Campbell joked of his former flame. "Whoopsie!"
Co-starring Lucy Lawless, Dana DeLorenzo and Ray Santiago, the supernatural series is about an unlikely hero and his trio of sidekicks -- Ruby, Kelly and Pablo. The show is to return to the cable network with fresh episodes on Feb. 25. Arielle Carver-O'Neill joins this ensemble this season as Brandy.
