Oct. 23 (UPI) -- CBS on Monday canceled its hybrid animal thriller Zoo after three seasons.

Variety reported the axing of the small-screen adaptation of James Patterson's novel.

The Hollywood Reporter blamed low ratings for the show's demise.

The futuristic adventure drama starred James Wolk, Kristen Connolly, Billy Burke, Nonso Anozie, Alyssa Diaz, Josh Salatin and Gracie Dzienny.
