Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Actor Craig Robinson said he dropped 50 pounds by giving up the booze and going vegan.

Appearing on daytime talk show Harry, Robinson told host Harry Connick, Jr. he had heard a rumor that it was possible for the liver to regenerate after six months and decided to see if it works.

"I just put down the alcohol I was going to detox," Robinson said. "I was like let me see if I can go six months and I just haven't gone back and then working out and I've been trying this vegan lifestyle too."

The 45-year-old actor best known for his roles in The Office, Ghosted and Hot Tub Time Machine said he stuck to the plan, worked out, lost the 50 pounds and came to actually enjoy vegan cuisine.

"There are so many great vegan restaurant and dishes. It's much easier than I thought it would be," he said.
