Oct. 6 (UPI) -- American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy provided the first look at Evan Peters as Andy Warhol for an upcoming episode.

Murphy shared an Instagram photo of Peters donning a white wig and sunglasses to channel Warhol for the FX anthology series' seventh season American Horror Story: Cult.

"Evan Peters or Andy Warhol?" Murphy wrote.

Peters told Entertainment Weekly he enjoyed the challenge of portraying Warhol on the show.

"Ryan told me I was playing Andy Warhol and so I immediately started doing research on him and just fell in love with him," he said. "I thought he was amazing and the '60s and The Factory and that whole world to live in is so fun. So it was great to learn about him but challenging to get his mannerisms and his speech and his state of mind. I would just listen to him constantly."

Murphy said Peters will play a total of six different historical cult leaders throughout the season including Warhol, Charles Manson, David Koresh, Jim Jones.

"They're all such idiots," Murphy said of the cult leaders. "But for some reason in the culture at that time there was something going on that people were so disenfranchised that they were, like, 'Yeah, I'm going to follow you, Charles Manson, and I'm going to do whatever you say."
