Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle seeks revenge in new 'Punisher' trailer

Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Netflix released a new trailer Wednesday featuring Jon Bernthal as the title character in its upcoming comic-book adaptation, The Punisher.

The 2 1/2-minute preview has gotten more than 1.6 million views in less than 24 hours. The show is to premiere later this year.

"After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York's criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone," a synopsis accompanying the clip explained.

The drama is executive produced by showrunner Steve Lightfoot, Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb, who also serves as Marvel's head of television. The cast includes Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Deborah Ann Woll, Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, Michael Nathanson, Jaime Ray Newman, Jason R. Moore, Daniel Webber and Paul Schulze.
