Sept. 13 (UPI) -- WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon made a special apperance on Smackdown Live Tuesday to confront Kevin Owens about his impending lawsuit against the WWE.

Owens threatened to sue the company last week after he was attacked by Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon after the former Universal Champion made comments about the McMahon family.

"You didn't fight back because you couldn't, you didn't fight back because Shane was beating your ass!" Vince said to Owens about his claims of choosing not to retaliate against Shane because he respects authority.

Vince also warned Owens that if he did go through with a lawsuit, he would promptly fire him. The billionaire then proposed that Owens and Shane settle their differences in a Hell in a Cell match at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event on Oct. 8.

After agreeing to the match and shaking hands with Vince, Owens then did the unthinkable and head-butted Vince who fell to the ground bleeding from his forehead. Owens then continued to brutalize his boss despite the pleas of WWE referees and officials as he kicked Vince in the face and then later delivered a Frog Splash from the top rope.

Medical personal quickly rushed to the ring with a stretcher as Owens began to realize the severity of his actions. As he headed to the back, Owens was confronted by an angry looking Stephanie McMahon.

Also on Smackdown, a trio of championship matches took place as AJ Styles successfully defended his United States Championship against Tye Dillinger by using the Calf Crusher; Natalya successfully defended her Smackdown Women's Championship against Naomi by using the Sharpshooter; and The New Day won back the Smackdown Tag Team Championships from The Usos following a brutal Street Fight.

The Street Fight involved the use of chairs, steel steps, a table and a kendo stick. The New Day won the bout after performing The Midnight Hour on Jimmy Usos for the three count.

Other moments from Smackdown included WWE Champion Jinder Mahal mocking his Hell in a Cell opponent Shinsuke Nakamura; Dolph Ziggler once again mocking the entrances of various WWE Superstars; and Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable defeated The Hype Bros.
