Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Amazon has canceled its period dramas Z: The Beginning of Everything and The Last Tycoon.

The Hollywood Reporter said neither the Christina Ricci-led Z, which is about author F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife, Zelda Fitzgerald, in the 1920s, nor Matt Bomer's Tycoon, which is based on an unfinished work by F. Scott Fitzgerald about the early Hollywood film industry, were picked up for a second season because the streaming service wants to focus on developing hits for a broader audience.

Meanwhile, Variety reported TNT opted against ordering more episodes of Will due to the show's low ratings. Set in 16th century London, the series followed young William Shakespeare as a struggling poet and playwright. It starred Laurie Davidson, Olivia DeJonge, Colm Meaney, Mattias Inwood, Jamie Campbell Bower and Ewen Bremner.
