Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Filming has begun in Europe on BBC America's eight-part adaptation of Luke Jennings' Villanelle novellas.

Written by Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the series Killing Eve stars Sandra Oh as a desk-bound security services operative obsessed with bringing in Jodie Comer's globe-trotting assassin. The show is being shot on locations in Paris, Tuscany, Berlin and London and is scheduled to premiere in 2018.

"I'm hugely excited to have started filming Killing Eve. It's looking fantastic and our cast, led by the indomitable Sandra and Jodie, are to die for!" Waller-Bridge said in a statement.

"Bringing Phoebe's remarkable writing to life with this genius cast and crew is enthralling. Killing Eve promises to be an original -- blackly funny and joltingly affecting, glamorous and startlingly realistic, a vivid and colorful noir thriller," added Sarah Barnett, BBC America's president.

The cast will also include Fiona Shaw, David Haig, Kim Bodnia. Darren Boyd, Sean Delaney, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Owen McDonnell.

Oh is best known for her work on Grey's Anatomy, while Comer is famous for her performance in The White Princess.
