Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Smackdown Live's John Cena invoked his free agency status Monday and joined the Raw roster where he was confronted by Roman Reigns.

Cena began by stating he came over to WWE's red brand in order to meet Reigns whom he would like to face off against in the near future. The comments echo similar statements the 16-time heavyweight champion has made in the past on Twitter

As Reigns and Cena met in the middle of the ring, Intercontinental Champion The Miz arrived to crash the party along with his wife Maryse and Miztourage consisting of Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel.

During an impassioned speech that riled up the crowd, The Miz asked why Cena and Reigns are afforded multiple "moments" in the WWE while he gets the shaft despite being the Intercontinental Champion. Cena then challenged The Miz and anyone from his posse to a Tag Team Match for the main event of Raw.

Samoa Joe then entered the picture and volunteered himself to be The A-Lister's partner as he welcomed Cena to Raw with a vicious punch that sparked a brawl. The ensuing match ended with Cena and Reigns' hands raised in victory after Cena reversed The Miz's Skull-Crushing Finale into an Attitude Adjustment after The Big Dog accidentally hit his partner with a Superman Punch.

Also on Raw, Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and his advocate Paul Heyman kicked off the show to gloat about The Beast's impressive victory Sunday at SummerSlam as he retained his title against Reigns, Joe and Braun Strowman in a Fatal 4-Way Match.

The celebration was short-lived however after Strowman confronted Lesnar inside the ring and beat down the champion with two Running Powerslams before he held up the Universal Championship to the crowd.

It was announced later that Lesnar will be defending his title against Strowman at the Raw-exclusive event No Mercy on Sept. 24.

Other moments from Raw include Enzo Amore defeating Big Cass in a Brooklyn Street Fight after Big Cass sustained a knee injury; Nia Jax defeating Emma; Elias defeating R-Truth; Cedric Alexander, Rich Swann, Mustafa Ali and Gran Metalik defeating Noam Dar, Ariya Daivari, Tony Nese and Drew Gulak; Alexa Bliss announcing to new Raw Women's Champion Sasha Banks that she will be invoking her rematch clause next week on Raw; Finn Balor defeating Jason Jordan; and new Raw Tag Team Champions Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins defeating The Hardy Boyz in a highly-competitive match.
