Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Kim Zolciak says she couldn't speak during her "life-changing" stroke in 2015.

The 39-year-old reality star shared details about the "scary" experience in a preview for Wednesday's episode of Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry.

"I went down to hug my son," Zolciak recalled for Henry. "Then my hand started to go numb, but it was numb times a gazillion, not the normal, like, shake it off. Then I couldn't speak and I was trying to, and it was so scary."

"The stroke was life-changing -- literally," she added. "I never thought at 37 I would have a stroke, and in front of my children, nonetheless. I've pretty much fully recovered, but I can't say that I don't think like, 'Could this happen again?'"

Zolciak said in a post in July that she's "almost fully recovered" from her stroke in September 2015. She shared the warning signs of a stroke with her fans, urging them to "please always check it out" if something doesn't seem right.

"As you know I had a stroke in Sept 2015," the star wrote at the time. "Im so thankful for everyone's quick thinking. I've never seen doctors/nurses move as fast as they did the second I was wheeled in. I'm so thankful for my medical team."

"I have almost fully recovered (sometimes my tongue slips when I speak, and sometimes I have the word on the tip of my tongue but it just doesn't come out) but I feel great!" she shared. "I had my stroke at 37!! It can happen to anyone at any age!"

Zolciak shares six children with her husband, NFL free agent Kroy Biermann, whom she married in 2011. She previously told Bravo's Daily Dish having a stroke changed "everything" about her world view.
