Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams celebrated eight years of friendship this week.

Turner, 21, and Williams, 20, who play sisters Sansa and Arya Stark on the HBO series Game of Thrones, marked the occasion by dedicating sweet posts to each other Monday on Instagram.

Aug. 7 marked the eighth anniversary of Turner and Williams' casting on Game of Thrones. The co-stars commemorated the date of their casting in September by getting "07.08.09" tattooed on their forearms.

"We got matching tattoos!" Turner told E! News at the time, explaining she and Williams wanted to get inked before their characters potentially died on Game of Thrones.

"We were always planning from Season 1, if we make it all the way through, hopefully we can all get a matching wolf or something. But we don't know if we're going to make it, so Maisie and I were like, 'Okay, let's get these ones before anyone kills us,'" she said.

Sansa and Arya are still living as of Sunday's episode, which saw the characters reunite at Winterfell. Turner and Williams confessed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that filming the scene was challenging because of their friendship.

"We couldn't keep a straight face!" Turner said. "Our relationship is so close, but it's only that fun side, never the business side. I was nervous. it just terrified me. It's like performing for your mom. When somebody is watching you don't do it quite as well."

"It was the weirdest thing when we shot our first scene together," Williams agreed. "We were both embarrassed to do our thing in front of each other. It took a few hours for us to get serious and actually do it. Later it was fine on set and we could concentrate."

Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
