TNT renews 'Animal Kingdom' for a third season

July 27 (UPI) -- TNT says it has renewed its drama Animal Kingdom for a third season to air in 2018.

"The Cody family's drama keeps bringing more and more viewers back for more," Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming for TNT, said in a statement Thursday. "Animal Kingdom has earned its place among a very select group of cable dramas that continue to grow audiences thanks to superior writing and storytelling."

Starring Ellen Barkin, Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary, Finn Cole, Molly Gordon and Carolina Guerra, the show is produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television.

Season 2 episodes will continue airing Tuesday nights through Aug. 29.
