July 1 (UPI) -- Netflix says it has ordered a second season of its satirical series Dear White People.
From creator and executive producer Justin Simien, the show stars Logan Browning, Brandon P. Bell, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori, Ashley Blaine Featherson and Marque Richardson.
Production on Season 2 will begin later this year, with the 10 new episodes expected to debut in 2018.
Yvette Lee Bowser is returning as showrunner.
Season 1 premiered in April and picked up where the 2014 movie by the same name left off.
"Set against the backdrop of a predominantly white Ivy League university where racial tensions bubble just below the surface, Dear White People is a send-up of the now post 'post-racial' America that weaves together a universal story of finding one's own identity and forging a wholly unique path," a synopsis from the streaming service said.
