June 7 (UPI) -- WWE's resident Rockstar Shinsuke Nakamura continued to build momentum towards Money in the Bank Tuesday on Smackdown Live as he took on United States Champion Kevin Owens.

The main event of the night, Nakamura and Owens faced off for the first time in a hard-hitting contest that featured the self-proclaimed New Face of America determined to best the Japanese sensation after losing to Nakamura multiple times in tag team matches in recent weeks.

Nakamura scored the victory after landing the Kinshasa on Owens, however, his victory celebration was cut short by Baron Corbin who entered the ring and laid out Nakamura with a devastating End of Days.

Corbin had been viewing the match from ringside while providing commentary after he had ambushed Sami Zayn earlier backstage who was scheduled to be a guest commentator. Nakamura, Owens, Corbin, Zayn, Dolph Ziggler and AJ Styles will be competing against each other in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match on July 18.

Also on Smackdown Live, The Ravishing Russian Lana made her long-awaited debut on the blue brand after she had joined Smackdown from Raw months ago during the Superstar Shake-Up.

Lana made her surprise appearance after Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon gathered the contestants for the upcoming Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match including Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Natalya, Carmella and Tamina, along with Smackdown Women's Champion Naomi, in order to unveil the briefcase they will be fighting for on July 18.

Despite her best efforts, Lana was unable to convince McMahon to enter her into the Ladder Match which guarantees the winner a championship opportunity against Naomi anytime and anywhere. A Six Women Tag Team Match was then set up by McMahon between Lynch, Flair and Naomi against Natalya, Carmella and Tamina who came out on top after Lana distracted Naomi.

Other moments from Smackdown Live included Styles defeating Ziggler, WWE Champion Jinder Mahal defeating Mojo Rawley and The New Day defeating The Colons after appearing in a new edition of The Fashion Files alongside Breezango.
