"4 years together and getting better every day," she captioned the picture on Instagram.

Kotb followed up by posting a quote made famous by Dr. Seuss. The quote originates from the Robert Fulghum book True Love.

"We are all a little weird and, life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love," the post reads.

Kotb later confessed on Today that she initially forgot her anniversary. She and Schiffman were enjoying a romantic weekend when she realized she had overlooked the date.

"The sun was setting and we had a toast. I just looked out and I said, 'You know what? Sometimes it's the small things in life,'" she told co-host Kathie Lee Gifford. "Then he made a great dinner and he said, 'Happy anniversary.' And I go, 'What?'"
