Brendan Fraser to star in FX drama 'Trust'

June 2 (UPI) -- Brendan Fraser has signed on to star in the first season of FX's anthology series Trust.

"He's on the case. Brendan Fraser joins the cast of new FX show Trust as private investigator James Fletcher Chace," the cable network tweeted Thursday.

Deadline.com said Fraser will act alongsideĀ Donald Sutherland and Hilary Swank in the 10-episode drama about the kidnapping of Getty Oil Company founder John Paul Getty III.

Based on true events and set in 1973, the show is scheduled to premiere in January. Danny Boyle is to direct the project.

Fraser, 48, is best known for his work in The Mummy trilogy, as well as School Ties, Encino Man, Gods and Monsters, Blast From the Past, George of the Jungle, The Quiet American, Crash and Journey to the Center of the Earth. He recently played a supporting role in the Showtime drama The Affair.
