May 31 (UPI) -- Less than a month after NBC announced This Is Us would move to Thursday nights at 9 this fall, the network has reversed course, saying it will keep its hit drama in a Tuesday night time slot.

NBC had hoped moving This Is Us to Thursdays would bolster that night's lineup and resurrect the network's Must See TV tagline from the 1990s. The show stars Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore and Sterling K. Brown.

But Thursday Night Football on NBC, which starts mid-November, would have disrupted a continuous fall showing for the hit program. NBC executives also decided they didn't want to inconvenience fans who watched the first season on Tuesdays, a source close to the network told Variety.

Moving the second season of This Is Us back to Tuesday at 9 p.m. means more changes for NBC's primetime lineup this fall. The network's revival of Will & Grace will now air at 9 p.m. on Thursdays, along with other shifted shows, Superstore at 8 p.m., The Good Place at 8:30 p.m. and Chicago Fire at 10 p.m.

NBC also shuffled Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays.
