May 24 (UPI) -- Game of Thrones released a first Season 7 trailer Wednesday that previews "the great war" to come.

The teaser shows Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) prepare to battle for control of the Seven Kingdoms.

Cersei's brothers -- Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) -- and Jon's half-sisters -- Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) -- are also shown. The trailer also features a glimpse of Daenerys' now-huge dragons.

Game of Thrones will return for an abbreviated seventh season in July. Coster-Waldau and Harington recently said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the season will have a faster pace than previous ones.

"I feel like I'd been lulled into a different pace," Coster-Waldau said. "Everything happened quicker than I'm used to ... a lot of things that normally take a season now take one episode."

"This season is really different than any other season because it's accelerating toward the end, a lot of stuff collides and happens much quicker than you're used to seeing on Thrones," Harington added. "It's so different than what everybody is used to. It's quite exciting."
