May 17 (UPI) -- The Flash star Keiynan Lonsdale has come out as bisexual.
The 24-year-old Australian actor -- who plays Wally West, aka Kid Flash, on The CW series -- confirmed in an Instagram post that he likes both "girls" and "guys" after spending years "ashamed" of his sexuality.
"I like to change my hair, I like to take risks with how I dress, I like girls, & I like guys (yes), I like growing, I like learning, I like who I am and I really like who I am becoming," Lonsdale wrote in an Instagram post Saturday.
"I gotta take the next step & actually embrace who I am, which is pretty exciting," he said. "Not faking [expletive] anymore, not apologizing for falling in love with people no matter their gender.
"I've become bored of being insecure, ashamed, scared... no one should feel like that about themselves," the star added. "I hope we can all learn to embrace who we are & not judge people who aren't exactly the same as us."
Lonsdale followed up on Twitter by thanking fans for their well wishes. Friend and fellow actor Elliot Knight, who portrayed Merlin on the ABC series Once Upon a Time, was among those to voice their support online.
"Could not be prouder of my best friend @KeiynanLonsdale," he tweeted.
Lonsdale is also known for playing Oliver Lloyd on the Australian series Dance Academy and Uriah Pedrad in the Divergent movies. He joined The Flash in Season 2.
